How to wear it

Pull them on like any pair of shorts. Nothing to fasten, nothing to re-wrap one-handed.

The waistband sits high, just under the lower ribs. Pull it all the way up: the padded zone is meant to land on the C-section line, not above it.

Wear them through the day, under leggings at home or jeans out of the house. Most moms order two pairs because they wear them daily.

What makes X-Compression™ different?

Most postpartum garments compress: one wide band, one direction, pressing your middle flat. All the tension collects at a single line, which is why the edge rolls and digs.

X-Compression™ is two crossing seams over the lower belly. They pull from opposite diagonals instead of pressing from one, so the firmness spreads from your ribs to your mid-thigh. Firm everywhere, tight at no single point.

Can I wear it over a C-section scar?

Once your doctor or midwife has cleared you, yes. The scar line is what it was built around.

Most garments try to sit above the incision and hope their edge doesn't roll into it. Here a soft padded zone is sewn in at the scar line itself, with a seamless liner against skin that is still healing. If anything feels sore, take them off and check with your provider.

When should I start wearing it?

Week two onward, for most moms. In the first days after birth, hospital pads do a job nothing reusable replaces.

From about week two the built-in layer takes over for spotting and light leaks. Bleeding runs longer than most people are told: the median is 27 days, and it commonly stops and starts again.

Materials & care

Outer shell: 79.6% nylon, 20.4% elastane. Inner liner: 95.6% viscose, 4.4% elastane.

Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. No fabric softener, no bleach, no tumble dryer. Lay flat or hang to dry.

How long before I notice a difference?

The held-together feeling is something you notice the first time you put them on.

What changes over the weeks is how much you rely on it: less bracing before you lift, less checking before you stand up. It is support while your body recovers, not a replacement for the movement and physio work that rebuilds your core.

Who recommends it

Recommended by hospital midwives

We built this with a hospital midwife team: firm hold that pulls from two sides instead of squeezing one band, and a soft padded zone where a C-section line sits. They recommend it to the new moms in their care.

What Real Customers Are Saying

Julia,34Verified Buyer
"Nobody warned me I would be holding my own stomach. Every time I got up off the couch my hand went flat across my middle, like I had to keep everything in one place. I had the wrap from the hospital and it migrated up under my bra by lunch, so it lived in a drawer. These pull across the whole middle instead of one tight line. Put them on at 7, forgot about them until bedtime. I feel held together, not squeezed."
Sabrina,29Verified Buyer
"Second c section and every waistband I own lands right on the scar. Jeans, leggings, even the binder they sent me home with. I basically lived in one pair of giant hospital undies. These go way up above my belly button and the soft padded part is what sits over the incision, so there is no edge digging in when I sit down. I waited until my doctor cleared me. First day I wore them I laughed without putting my hand there."
Lisa,31Verified Buyer
"Weeks two to six are the part nobody prepares you for. I was in the giant pads, my skin was done, and the thing shifted around every single time I stood up. With these the layer is just in there, nothing to fix, nothing sliding. I bled way longer than I thought you were supposed to, like a month, and it stopped and started again twice. Not checking my pants every hour was the part I did not expect."
Cathrine,35Verified Buyer
"Third baby, third attempt at this. The two wraps I bought went slack after a few weeks and I felt dumb about the money both times. At my six week check I got cleared and my middle still felt loose, which apparently is normal and nobody says that out loud. I am five months in with these and they hold the same as day one. That is the part I would tell someone."

What To Expect - Your Path Back To Feeling Held Together

Most shapewear promises you'll snap back overnight. We will tell you the truth instead.

Week 1-2

Something to put on that isn't hospital mesh

Pull-on, nothing to fasten one-handed. The padded zone lands on the C-section line instead of above it, so there is no rigid edge rolling into a fresh incision. Most moms are still on hospital pads here, and that is the right call.

Week 2-6

You stop checking

The built-in layer takes over for spotting and light leaks, with no pad shifting under the compression line. Bleeding runs longer than most people are told. The median is 27 days, and it commonly stops and starts again.

Week 6-12

The six-week check turns out to be paperwork

You get cleared and your middle still feels loose. That is not you being behind: postpartum care guidance runs through 12 weeks, and joint laxity can last around four months. This is where you stop bracing before you lift.

Beyond 4 Months

The day you forget you're wearing it

About 1 in 3 mothers still have abdominal separation a year after birth. A binder is designed to come off within weeks; this is designed to stay comfortable at month five, while you do the movement and physio work that rebuilds your core.

The Only Support That Actually Holds

A 2025 review of 27 trials rated belly binders on their own as moderate to low in effectiveness. BellyShape was built because moms deserve support they actually keep wearing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our products, shipping, returns, and more.

How is this different from every other shapewear I've tried?

Most postpartum shapewear and belly binders press your middle flat from one direction, with one wide band. The tension collects at a single edge, which is why they roll, dig in and end up in a drawer.

BellyShape™ uses X-Compression™: two crossing seams that draw your middle back together from two directions, firm from your ribs to mid-thigh. It adds a padded zone at the C-section line and a leak-proof layer sewn into the garment, so there is no pad breaking the line underneath.

Does it actually work or is this just good marketing?

Fair question, and one we'd be asking too.

In a small 2026 study, postpartum women wearing a pelvic compression garment reported feeling far more supported (perceived core support rose from 4/10 to 8/10) and moved with a measurably smoother stride. It was a different garment and an early study, so we won't pretend it proves anything about ours. What it does show is that the held-together feeling is real, and measurable.

And you don't have to take our word for it: try it for 30 days, risk-free.

Will it close my abdominal separation?

No, and anything promising that is overselling.

A 2025 review compared diastasis treatments across 27 trials. Support garments on their own came in at moderate to low effectiveness; deep and superficial abdominal training ranked highest. BellyShape™ is what you wear while you do that work: it holds you steady so lifting doesn't start with bracing.

I'm worried about wearing it after a C-section.

Reasonable concern. Wait until your doctor or midwife has cleared you.

After that, the scar line is exactly what BellyShape™ was built around: a soft padded zone sewn in at the incision line, a seamless liner against healing skin, and no rigid edge to roll down into it. If anything feels sore, take it off and check with your provider.
